There Is No Shame In Struggling: It’s Okay :-)

[Sometimes We Just Need To Know It's Okay & We're Normal]

Sometimes We Just Need To Know It’s Okay & We’re Normal

Wrestling; Struggling; Sinking.

Three words that can describe our daily lives at one time or another.

Yet 3 words that many of us feel ashamed to use.

We think that they reveal weakness, dependency, some kind of inadequacy on our part. We fear that if our friends or even family find out they’ll:

  • think less of us
  • pity us
  • mock us
  • walk away from us

The reality is that although our friends could indeed do any of the above, chances are, they won’t (if they do then maybe it’s time to find some new friends?).

REALITY CHECK:

Every one of us will struggle at one time or another. THAT’S OKAY. THAT’S HUMAN. You are no different to anyone else.

If we can accept this & embrace it, I think we also find some kind of release & permission to move forward, to seek help or find support.

I would go so far as saying that if we deny our struggles we are in grave danger of becoming mentally ill & socially inept.

[Postscript:  Sometimes we feel like this because we have grown up in a family that imbeds & reinforces these fears in us. That is a difficult call. We may not be able to walk away from our family BUT perhaps we CAN find trustworthy people who can help us & support us?]

Just a few thoughts this Friday afternoon.

Take care until next time …

About waywood

Hi & Welcome to my thoughts. I share subjects that are important to me. As you’ll notice, these subjects can be quite broad & varied. I like variety; I like breadth & I like a challenge. I am passionate about helping others overcome their fears, grow in confidence & succeed. Although many people would label me as an achiever, I have battled low confidence, low self-esteem & a couple of nasty, long periods depression over the years. I can’t say, “I know how you feel” but I can hopefully empathise & offer some of the things that are helping me to turn my life around. Please feel free to comment, share & enjoy. Take care, best wishes & keep well Stuart
