Same View: Different Filter

[Westminster form the South Bank]

Westminster form the South Bank

I took this shot of Westminster (Houses of Parliament & Abbey) from the South Bank of the Thames earlier this week.

The shot below is exactly the same photograph processed with a colour filter.

Westminster: Same view, different filter

What I find fascinating is that although the pictures are identical, our eye is drawn to focus on different parts of the photo, picking out different detail.

This week has seen me looking at a number of difficult circumstances.

I noticed that I could look at the same situation at different times (through different filters) & it seemed very different depending on my starting point (mood etc).

I was challenged to ponder on how often I see a particular set of circumstances as ‘impossible’ when in fact, looking from a different starting point (different time of day, different mood, different day, looking with more information etc) there was a way forward.

Life can throw many curve balls at us. Many of those we find difficult to take. However, sometimes the way forward is visible of we use a different filter (starting point) to look at that same situation.

And sometimes, that filter is no more than the help of a trusted friend.

For those of you who, like me, sometimes struggle to see the way out, I hope this helps …

Take care until next time …

About waywood

Hi & Welcome to my thoughts. I share subjects that are important to me. As you’ll notice, these subjects can be quite broad & varied. I like variety; I like breadth & I like a challenge. I am passionate about helping others overcome their fears, grow in confidence & succeed. Although many people would label me as an achiever, I have battled low confidence, low self-esteem & a couple of nasty, long periods depression over the years. I can’t say, “I know how you feel” but I can hopefully empathise & offer some of the things that are helping me to turn my life around. Please feel free to comment, share & enjoy. Take care, best wishes & keep well Stuart
