HAPPY CHRISTMAS?

Hi! May I wish you a very Happy Christmas … even if you don’t feel like it.

Chances are that if you’re reading this today you are looking for something to cheer you up.  Perhaps you feel alone, are separated from family or friends by work or other circumstances, or perhaps you  just can’t plug in to the ‘Christmas Spirit’.

Christmas is one of my favourite times of year … Sure, it’s easy to get caught up in the stress of buying presents, cooking meals, the latest gadgets, keeping up with the neighbours etc, but I always try to find somewhere quiet and think about what it is exactly that we celebrate.

I think about the amazing way in which God took time to visit us. Not only that, He didn’t do it in the expected way … you know, flashing lights, palace, royal family etc. He came to two unknowns, unnoticed amongst the hustle and bustle of people struggling to find somewhere to stay as they obeyed the decree of the emperor to return to their home town for a census.

And who got the news first? A bunch of renowned cheaters and thieves looking after their sheep … and a bunch of obscure Eastern mystics who then took nearly 3 years to find the baby (now a boy).

And in the centre of this is a message that none of us is too insignificant to be missed by God, and each has the chance to bring what we have to Him and say ‘Thank You!’.

So, however you feel today, the truth is that you are loved, valued especially for who you are (not what you do) and remembered by a God who knows and understands you because he made you and has lived here as one of us … thank God His love isn’t dependent on how we feel! … have a peaceful and blessed time this Christmas.

About waywood

Hi & Welcome to my thoughts. I share subjects that are important to me. As you’ll notice, these subjects can be quite broad & varied. I like variety; I like breadth & I like a challenge. I am passionate about helping others overcome their fears, grow in confidence & succeed. Although many people would label me as an achiever, I have battled low confidence, low self-esteem & a couple of nasty, long periods depression over the years. I can’t say, “I know how you feel” but I can hopefully empathise & offer some of the things that are helping me to turn my life around. Please feel free to comment, share & enjoy. Take care, best wishes & keep well Stuart

thanks for that word of encouragment! It’s been a tough year for me and a sad Christmas season. I’ve had an extrordinary amount of losses this year. Including a long relationship which just broke a week ago so I am reeling and your word has help to encourage me right now
